United States: A woman with Legionnaires disease reported her terrifying sickness in the middle of an outbreak in Harlem, which has sickened almost 70 people and caused three deaths.

According to Stephanie Tribble, who was diagnosed with the disease, “My body is hurting really bad,” and “Just the other day, I thought I was having a heart attack.”
The symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease sound similar to those of the flu.
“I got the chills, I started sweating,” she mentioned.
However, Tribble also noted that it does not feel like any illness that she has ever had before. “I have asthma. I’m scared because I don’t know what’s going on with my body,” she noted, as per abc7ny.com reports.

The Harlem resident was diagnosed as having pneumonia by a doctor; this is a worry to Tribble since there is a Legionnaires outbreak in Central Harlem.
New York City Health Department reports that no less than 67 individuals have already had Legionnaires’ disease since July 25. Three human lives have been lost.
According to health officials, you may contract the disease when you inhale water vapor contaminated with the Legionella bacteria.
“This pneumonia can be very similar to other types of pneumonia,” as per Dr. Aaron Glatt, who is an epidemiologist at Mount Sinai South Nassau.
“And unless the physician is thinking about it, it could easily go untreated because the agents that may be used to treat other pneumonias may not be perfect for Legionella,” the expert added.
Legionnaires’ disease is a form of pneumonia brought about by the bacterium Legionella, which grows in warm water.
Cooling towers are examples of plumbing systems prone to the presence of Legionella, as per abc7ny.com reports.
The health department is sweeping an area of Harlem and claims crews have cleaned 11 cooling towers whose preliminary screening tests were positive for Legionella.
